Help Sam Get Back to Biking!
Donation protected
As many of you know, Sam (my brother-in-law) had a downhill mountain bike accident last summer and sustained serious injuries to his neck causing spastic paraplegia.
We are currently looking at an all terrain recumbent trike (pictured) with electric assist so Sam can enjoy riding around the yard and trails. He needs the electric assist to help. These specialized bikes are expensive but will be really helpful for him physically as well as mentally as he's recovering and adjusting to life changes after his injury.
Any donation or sharing of this post would be greatly appreciated to help us reach our goal!
Since being home from the rehabilitation hospital, he has continued with occupational and physical therapy 2-3 times a week and is learning to walk and drive again. To help him succeed with this, he had surgery seven months ago for a baclofen pump - an implanted device under the skin in his abdomen that delivers medication directly into the spinal fluid that helps relieve spasms. His strength and determination, and the love and support from family & friends, has gotten him this far but there is still a long road ahead. Since Sam loves biking so much and can't ride a regular bike right now, Sam & Whitney are hope this recumbent trike can help him reach his goals. They have received some grant money but these bikes are very expensive. Please consider donating towards a recumbent bike for Sam so he can get outside and enjoy the nice weather doing something he loves.
