My name is Ekram, and I’m reaching out on behalf of Salem A., a 32-year-old young man whose life changed tragically in an instant.

Salem moved from Saudi Arabia to Canada three years ago in search of a better future. He settled in Windsor, Ontario, where he was enrolled in online school while working to support himself. Salem is known by everyone who meets him as a kind, hardworking, and humble person with a warm smile and big dreams for his future.

On September 1/2025 our dear family member Salem.A suffered a horrific tragedy — he was set on fire and sustained 97% burns across his body. He is currently fighting for his life as he was transferred by a helicopter to the intensive care burn unit at General Hospital in Hamilton Ont. He is undergoing constant surgeries and treatments just to survive and faces many more in the weeks and months ahead.

It’s hard to find words for the pain and heartbreak this has caused. Salem has always been a kind, loving, hardworking and humble soul — someone who lights up every room he walks into. Now he’s facing the toughest battle of his life.

Doctors say his recovery will take many months — possibly years — of surgeries, skin grafts, and physical therapy. Through it all, he has shown strength and courage beyond what most could imagine.

His situation is especially heartbreaking because his family lives in Saudi Arabia and cannot be physically present to support him during this devastating time however, his extended family are beside him, praying and holding onto faith.
