Hi, We are Jim and Michelle and we are hosting Salar and Roya in our home. We had seen the terrible videos of Afghans trying to leave the airport. Our 12 year old son asked "Mommy, what can we do?" She said we would pray about and we did. Shortly after that, we were contacted by our pastor at First Baptist Church Charlottesville that there was an opportunity to host a family. He had been contacted by the Oasis Life Network, a Muslim outreach ministry in the DC area. Salar, an Afghan military pilot, had to leave Afghanistan under serious conditions because he was in grave danger by the Taliban. Under the leadership of Colonel Abdul Rahman Rahmani, he, among others associated with military aviation, were successfully evacuated from Afghanistan. Salar, recently married as well, was able to escape with his new wife. They spent 40 days in Fort Pickett Virginia to be processed. Now, we are helping them to become independent and to start their new life in the United States. To do that, they need many things. Most importantly, a car, so they can be more independent. Can you help? Please share our story!
