Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
We’re a family of six in Calgary facing an impossible situation: we’ve fallen behind on one month’s rent during our toughest time yet, and after an unfair Residential Tenancy Dispute Resolution Service (RTDRS) hearing, our landlord demands $6,000 for two months’ rent by April 1st just to stay. We cannot afford it, and truthfully, we no longer wish to remain here. This rental no longer feels like home, and we are determined to move on to somewhere safe, stable, and better for our family.
Our story is one of unrelenting hardship. Our oldest sibling, who has been our family’s mainstay, recently broke her wrist. She cannot work, cannot attend school, and lives with constant pain, watching her future uncertain breaks our hearts daily. The next two oldest siblings are tirelessly applying for jobs with no success yet, while our youngest, just 10 years old, asks heartbreaking questions like “Mommy, where will we go next?”
Our mother, who courageously battled cancer and is now in remission, cannot work due to a language barrier that makes daily life a struggle. She has given everything to hold us together, but her health holds her back. Our father, who never complains, drives for Uber 10-12 hours daily, enduring diabetes that leaves him exhausted. Both parents manage this condition, and long hours are unsustainable, yet he persists for us. Even so, his income falls short of our basic needs.
Every contribution is vital. We have endured so much, but cannot continue alone.
We cannot afford all these crisis , so we ask for your help. Please consider sharing this with your family and friends to prevent us from being without four walls and a roof.
With deepest gratitude,
Sahin Family
