Hi my name is Sam and I am trying to raise money to help my mom.
On her birthday, July 11th, Sadie, my verbally challenged autistic sister, was rushed to the hospital. What began as a terrifying mystery quickly became a life-or-death battle. My mom never left her side. Sadie’s body swelled, her blood count dropped, and doctors had no answers. After five agonizing days, Sadie’s intestines burst. She was life-flighted for emergency surgery, and our family was told to say goodbye—she had only a 5% chance of survival.
But Sadie held on.
She made it through the night, and surgeons finished the operation. She spent two weeks in a coma on a breathing tube, with our mom by her side every moment. When Sadie woke, her body was too weak. She suffered a stroke and a heart attack. More surgeries followed, but Sadie never quit. Sadie fought through physical and speech therapy. She now lives with a permanent ileostomy.
Our mom lost her job because she refused to leave Sadie’s side as she cared, advocated, and did Sadie’s PT. Dez and I stepped in so she could rest. Mom brought Sadie home to continue her care and drove her to every appointment, every therapy, every follow-up.
A year ago, Sadie faced another emergency surgery for her gallbladder. Now, she’s preparing for yet another fight: cancer cells have spread, and she must undergo surgery to remove multiple organs. A mass continues to grow, and decisions loom. Once again, our mom will be by her side and unable to work. Once again, Sadie will fight for her life.
We’re asking for help.
This fundraiser will support Sadie’s medical care, transportation, and the basic needs of our family as our mom steps away from work to care for her daughter. Every donation helps us hold onto hope, help Mom be there for her, and continue this fight together.
Sadie is a miracle. She’s survived the impossible more than once. And with your help, she’ll do it again.
Thank you for standing with us.
