Help Sacramento Refugee Teens Attend School Dances

Hi, my name is Kendall and I've started ReDressed to help refugee teens in my community attend school dances like prom, homecoming, spring fling, and Cotillion. ReDressed needs your help to provide dresses, dance admission tickets and more.

ReDressed’s mission is to help teen refugees adapt to their new multicultural environment. We gather new, lightly used, and donated dresses. A series of selection events will be held each year in Sacramento, giving teen refugees the opportunity to choose their perfect dress at no cost! Many refugees arrive to the United States after facing previous persecution. Teens are put into new schools, with different customs and cultural attire. While a high school dance may seem like a trivial event to some, being able to attend with peers and immerse oneself in a memorable high school experience may help a refugee’s ability to adapt to a new setting. Our mission is to provide a sense of comfort and stability to those teens who may be enduring a confusing and difficult time. Having access to a dress will hopefully ease the anxiety of affording one or attending a dance. A simple dress can redress the problem of alienation.

Dresses have been averaging about $12. And dance tickets are about $20. So for $32 you can support a teen refugee having a beautiful dress and being able to enjoy a momentous teenage cultural event. A small contribution will go a long way - thank you for your help!
