This wonderful little boy is Ryker Wade, who lives in Alabama. From birth, we knew there was something bigger at play, he was not able to take a bottle without aspirating. He was originally diagnosed with acid reflux at birth but when his symptoms only progressed and he got pneumonia over and over. They took him to a different doctor who then began the different blood and genetic testing to diagnose and treat his symptoms. He’s 16 months old and has been diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and will be undergoing surgery in the coming weeks. On his first birthday, he received his NG (nasal gastric) feeding tube. Two months later, he had surgery and got his gastric tube to supplement feedings. His dad is a full time sheriffs deputy and his mom is a stay at home mom since he requires specialized care. Also, he has a 3 year old brother, Braylon, who wants to see his brother get healthier so he can play with him. He will be required to have three total surgeries, one at Children’s in Birmingham and the other two will be at Vanderbilt in Tennessee. Due to his health and the multiple surgeries, we are gratefully asking for some monetary help to supplement mom’s income and travel expenses.
