Help Ryan Grow His Family!

Donation protected
My nephew Ryan, a cherished member of my family, is yearning to build a family of his own.

He’s not my nephew by blood, or even formal adoption, but because my very perceptive older sister Maggie met him when he was 9 and thought, “There’s something special about that boy.” We welcomed him into our crazy family and he fit right in. From that point on he has come on every family vacation and to every gathering, and has been woven into our family saga ever since. He has also become a central, important, and stabilizing part of who I am.

Ryan does not take family for granted, as he has no strong ties to his family of birth. He has had to support himself since he was 14 because he received very little support -- either emotional, physical or financial -- from his biological family. He clothed and fed himself through high school working as a gardener and florist, and spent nights at my sister’s sleeping in a cot in my niece’s room. He put himself through college in New Hampshire and then California. When he first moved out to CA in 2005 to live with my husband and me, he worked 2 full-time bartending jobs for a year to pay off his $24K in student loan debt. He has amazed me at every step of the way.

He graduated from California Polytechnic State University Summa Cum Laude and has created a career out of his love for horticulture. He now heads a small independent landscaping company in South San Francisco where he leads a staff of 15 and shows relentless dedication to their wellbeing and development. Ryan has a wicked good sense of humor, and is one of the most humble, hardworking, and intelligent people I have ever met.

Ryan has worked tirelessly to reach a point in his life where he can dream of becoming a parent, and I know he will be an amazing father. He has the opportunity to have a baby via a surrogacy program based in Colombia. This is a big, exciting step, and also an expensive one.

If you know Ryan you like we do, you already know he’s meant to be a parent. So help us help him get there! ANY amount would be helpful. Thank you!
