Hi All,

Our Aunt Ruth, a single mom of three, has been fostering children for several years, and a year ago, she received a beautiful teenage girl (her name cannot be named for social service reasons). Within a week of her joining Aunt Ruth's family, she was flown to UCSF where tests began and she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, among other complications later on down the line. Aunt Ruth cared for her through this trying time, living with her at UCSF (4 hours away from home) for the majority of the year. Aunt Ruth left her job in order to care for the health of this sweet, young girl, providing her with amazing love and care during a pain-filled time. She also left her daughter, who was a senior in high school, as they both agreed that the new addition to their family really needed Ruth's support. After 4 rounds of chemo, a bone marrow transplant, and other complications, the foster child was diagnosed as cancer free and a party awaited them on their return to Redding in early June. A month later, Ruth's foster daughter passed away unexpectedly, coming as a shock to us all. 

Aunt Ruth is in need of some financial help, as she left her job last fall to help care for the wellbeing of this beautiful soul. In the days just before the fifteen-year-old's passing, Ruth's 10+ year old vehicle was totaled. Ruth is now home trying to put things in order and determine her next steps. We are asking for donations to help with a vehicle and to live on as she looks for work.

What an amazing example of self-less love! Let's show Ruth how much she is appreciated and loved for her sacrifice and care for this special foster child.
