More mothers and babies die in Haiti every year than in any country in the Western Hemisphere. Where there is severe poverty, mothers sometimes have to choose between food for their family or having a skilled attendant at their birth. Help me make the difference by providing free skilled midwifery care to Haitian pregnant families.
My name is Rosemary Loperena, a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM), heading to MamaBaby Haiti birth center in April. MamaBaby International is a non-profit 501(c)3 27-2044727 birth center, health clinic, and midwifery school located in Northern Haiti. This facility opened in 2010. The birthing center provides free prenatal, birth, postpartum and well-women care to many women on the Cap-Haitien area.The birth center relies on payments from their volunteers to run the birth center that ranges between 50 to130 births per month. Your donation will make a huge difference in the lives of Haitian families! Your donation will cover the following expenses:
* Volunteer fee of $1,500 (Land transportation, lodging, and meals. 100% of this fund goes to the birth center)
* Airfare from San Juan, Puerto Rico to : Estimate of $650
* Travel/Personal expenses
