As a community support worker working in Haringey and Hackney with Community Cook Up, I got to know a man called George*. He lived in Hackney, and I visited him in his home for a while. He was very concerned about his wife Rose, and son Joseph, who were living in Jamaica. A year ago, he sadly passed away, and eventually after some months I was able to contact Rose and discuss her situation, which I was aware was very difficult. I have tried to help her get her rights met (through a Bereavement Support Payment) but this has not yet been issued.
Since her husband passed away, Rose’s life has been an uphill battle for her and Joseph. They are now facing an urgent crisis – they are at risk of eviction through no fault of their own. They urgently need help covering legal fees to fight for their rights.
On top of this, Rose is battling serious health issues. With limited resources and a complex legal situation, she has been unable to afford the legal assistance she desperately needs. Their lawyer is ready to help stop their eviction, but they need £465 to cover legal fees before the upcoming court date on 15 February 2025.
Without these funds, they could lose their home. This family has already been through so much, and they deserve a fighting chance to secure their future.
How You Can Help
We are raising £465 to cover legal fees, ensuring they have the representation they need to prevent eviction. Every donation, no matter how small, will help keep this family safe and housed. If you are unable to donate, please share this page to spread the word.
Thank you for your kindness and support. Let’s stand together and help Rose and Joseph keep their home.
