Thank you for taking the time to read this
I am excited to finally be able to say that the operation has been a great success and that Ronny is able to see again.
He has been recovering for the passed month with a piece of plastic retaining his retina together . This has been somewhat painful for him due to the extreme heat wave they've been having in dominican republic. We were able to get him drops that subsided the pain temporarily to get him through his rehabilitation faze as comfortable as possible.
At times the heat was too much for him so he would go stay with a Canadian friend that has air conditioning to stay cool.
One day his friend told him to try his prescription eyeglasses and at this point his sight was approximately 60% at best . When he put on the glasses his sight came back to nearly 100% and this was confirmed when the doctor made him wear another set of eyeglasses that brought his sight to 100%! He has not been able to see this well in 8 years , let alone a month ago when he descended into pure darkness for the first time in his life.
At this point I would like to thank everyone that donated on the part of Ronny , he is for ever grateful and you will all be in his prayers.
Time to get him to the finish line!! He has one more procedure to remove the plastic retainer and then finally a pair of prescription bifocals so he can return to work safely. He is more motivated then ever to get back to work , anything you can spare will make a huge difference .
Thank you all.
Hello my name is Dan and I'd like to tell you about Ronny.
When traveling abroad more specifically in dominican republic I always have my very close friend Luis , we call him Ronny and I've known him for the last 8 years. He has been a guide for countless amounts of my friends , and if you've ever been concerned for my safety on my trips he's the one that got my friends, family and me, home, safe and sound each and every time .
Unfortunately he can no longer provide for his family due to a genetic predisposition to blindness in his family . He has 6 children and they are all under 15 years old.
I have offered to book him an operation to fix his sight . If all goes well his operation should be sometime this week .
I assure you that this temporary darkness in his life has not stopped his kind sole from shinning through .
This isn't a typical cataracts operation , due to the complexity of the procedure the costs of surgery and rehab is quite simply out of reach for my good friend Ronny and he would more then likely never see or be able to provide for his family again .
I've given him options and he should be able to have his operation this week .
All my life he's been telling me he would go blind and I've always told him I would never let that happen .
I'm asking for donations to help ronny . If he's ever helped you on your trip or if you care about my safety when I travel. Or more importantly out of pure kindness. please consider helping HIM.
