Update:
June 2025 — A New Chapter Begins
We’re so grateful to share that Robert has just been matched to a permanent apartment through a government housing program in Los Angeles. After years of instability, this marks a powerful new beginning — one we’ve all hoped and fought for.
While his housing is now secured, his apartment will be completely unfurnished. We are now raising funds to equip his new home with the basics: dishes, cutlery, towels, bedding, hygiene supplies, paper goods, and cleaning essentials. These items aren’t covered by housing support, but they are critical for his comfort, health, and dignity.
If you’ve already given — thank you. Your help got him to this moment. If you’re able to give again, every dollar helps us set him up for long-term stability.
Let’s help Robert not just survive — but start over with dignity and support.
With deep appreciation,
MaryKay
November 2024
Hello friends and family. I am raising funds to help get Robert Hire Miller back on his feet. Robert, as many of you know, was adopted at the age of 9 months. He is also the biological brother of my two brothers, Christopher and Peter Brandon, who were also adopted from the same birth family as infants.
Robert lost his father at the tender age of 12 and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at the age of 16. Robert’s path has not been easy since. He has been in and out of hospitals due to this condition over the course of his life. As you may also know, this has been very challenging for his immediate and extended family.
Robert moved to the States in 2016, settling in South Florida; however, his rocky road continued as he struggled with his condition and being in stable housing. Earlier this year, Robert moved to California to be closer to his family. Unfortunately, he has been in the hospital for much of this time receiving much-needed treatment for his bipolar disorder and also to repair a fractured hip from a bad fall. He is currently in a recuperative care facility receiving ongoing medical care and physical therapy. He is doing so much better; however, Robert needs immediate monetary assistance for certain fundamentals and necessities. These include food, clothing, footwear, bedding, toiletries, and medication. He is also in desperate need of dental treatment and restoration, which we are hoping to get state assistance with; however, we expect there will be significant out-of-pocket costs involved.
We are kindly asking for donations so we can help to give Robert a well-balanced life and a sense of hope. He has gone through many trials, and at the age of 66, we are hoping to keep him on track with his treatment plan, get him into stable housing, and provide a better standard of living for him. If you are able to help with any amount, large or small, I know he would be extremely humbled and grateful. Thank you so much for your consideration.
