Help Roatan Trips & Tours save their community
Donation protected
This November our family decided to head to Roatan (yes in the middle of the pandemic) and I'm so thankful that we did. On this trip we had the amazing opportunity to meet Steve Bush and his wonderful crew at Roatan Trips & Tours. We originally hired them to help us with transportation but it turned out to be much more than that.
As this island is completely dependent upon tourism to support the local community, most people have been out of work for almost a year now. This means no money to buy clothes, no money or access to schooling for the children and individuals losing their livelihoods. I know many people are struggling right now although the community of El Suampo in Roatan is heavily dependent upon Roatan Trips & Tours to survive. This amazing company donates a portion of their proceeds to help fund the community by providing athletic programs to children and covering the costs for school in exchange for the children's commitment to attend their classes, they provide food and clothing donations to the local community and provide work to as many as possible.
As the economy and tourism in their country continues to collapse, Steve's team is now threatened with losing their vans which would mean that the business can no longer operate. Not only will this result in a lack of work for Steve's company, but no food, school or work for an entire community. We have already learned that Steve's 9 year old daughter, Grace, has been withdrawn from school as they can't afford the $200/month cost.
Please help us get them back on their feet so that they can keep their business going and help so many of the individuals in their community that are simply struggling to feed their families. Anything helps!
