Rita is a mother, a survivor, and someone who simply wants a safe place to raise her family.
I met Rita at a winter clothing drive while she was searching for warm clothes for her two teenagers and her husband. She wasn’t there for herself—she was there trying to make sure her children stayed warm through the cold New York winter.
Rita is also pregnant.
Her family came to the United States seeking safety after fleeing Ecuador, hoping for stability and a chance to rebuild their lives. Instead, they’ve spent the past few years moving from shelter to shelter in New York City, never knowing where they’ll sleep next.
Imagine being pregnant and not having a stable home.
Imagine raising teenagers in constant uncertainty.
Imagine doing everything you can for your family and still struggling to meet basic needs.
Despite everything, Rita continues to show strength, resilience, and love for her family. But she shouldn’t have to do this alone.
We are raising funds to help Rita and her family:
Secure more stable housing
Access prenatal care and essential medical support
Provide food, clothing, and basic necessities
Give her children a sense of stability and dignity
Every contribution—no matter how small—makes a real difference.
This is more than a donation. It’s a chance to stand with a family in need, to show compassion, and to offer hope during an incredibly difficult time.
If you’re unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser. Your support can help change the course of this family’s future.
