Help The Barefoot Farmers Rebuild

Hello Friends,

This is Michael Dean Buttrill of Bootstraps Farm reaching out to ask for some support for a fellow farmer. The Barefoot Farmers sprang into existence three years ago on Sewel Mountain in Rainelle, WV and has been serving the Lewisburg, White Sulphur, and Alderson farmers markets with sustainably grown, high quality vegetables since. Rick Brubacker, aka the Barefoot Farmer, has led his family here to WV from Pennsylvania to live in harmony with the earth and to share his love of organic agriculture with the community and as a fellow farmer I can say that Rick is an incredible asset to our community. The Barefoot Farmers farmstead reflects the love and care that Rick and Lois give to their home and their children, if you have ever eaten their produce, you know what I mean.

Unfortunately, on December 7 Rick lost his entire workshop full of tools and supplies to a fire and then on January 6 their greenhouse was destroyed in the ice storm that crippled the mid-atlantic region. Years of hard work and organization have gone up in smoke or has been crushed by ice in the past month for the Brubakers.

One of the reasons why Bootstraps Farm is starting this campaign is because we know very well what it is like to have tragedy strike on a small family farm. In 2016 our farm was devastated by the freakish floods that claimed the lives of 24 people in Greenbrier County. If it were not for the GoFundMe campaign started by my brother Andrew Buttrill, we would not still have a farm.

So that is why I am asking you to send a donation to help the Brubaker's continue their work, supporting them is supporting your health and the health of our community.
