My name is Richard, and I am a 60-year-old skilled mechanic who has fallen on hard times. After surviving a severe coma and going through a difficult divorce, I found myself without a home. For the past two months, my loyal dog, Little Dog, and I have been living in my car in a church parking lot in Jacksonville, FL. The nights are cold, and each day brings the challenge of finding a safe place to rest. Despite these hardships, I am determined to rebuild my life and help others along the way.
What prompted me to start this fundraiser is my urgent need to secure a warehouse for my business, 'Busy Mechanic on Duty.' With your support, I can lease a facility for a year, which will immediately provide shelter for me and Little Dog. More than that, it will allow me to relaunch my career as a mechanic, covering the costs of insurance and equipment so I can earn a living again. But my vision goes beyond myself. I want this warehouse to become a 'City of Refuge'—a place where I can hire other homeless individuals, give them a paycheck and dignity, and host weekly 'Feed the Hungry' events funded by the shop's profits.
To everyone reading this: Thank you for seeing me. I am not asking for a free ride; I am asking for a partner. I am currently selling everything I own—my truck and my tools—to put the first dollars into this dream, but I cannot do it alone. Your donation isn't just renting a building; it is restoring a man's dignity. By helping me get back on my feet, you are helping build a shop that will hire the homeless and feed the hungry. Help me get off the ground so I can turn around and pull the next person up with me. Thank you for believing in a second chance.
Thank you.
