My name is Jacob Buzzard. I’m a close friend of Richard Higgins’ grandson, and I’m posting this on behalf of the family with their full support.

Early Friday morning, Richard lost the only home he has known for more than 55 years in a devastating fire. What was once filled with a lifetime of belongings, family photos, cherished memories, and the quiet stories of decades of hard work and love is now gone. In a single heartbreaking moment, everything was taken from him.

At this stage in life, Richard should be enjoying peace and stability — instead, he’s left with nothing but the clothes on his back and the overwhelming uncertainty of what comes next. He’s facing immediate needs for safe shelter, basic necessities, and the difficult decisions ahead to rebuild or find a new place to call home.
