Help Rhiannon Care for Her Father, a Veteran Battling Stage 4 Cancer

Hi, my name is Rhiannon McMahon, and I’m reaching out with a deeply personal request.

My father, Kevin McMahon, is a 71-year-old Army Veteran who served in Communications and spent over 40 years as a long-distance truck driver and U.S. mail carrier. He is a man who has given so much—to his country, to his community, and especially to his family.

Kevin has recently been diagnosed with aggressive stage 4 throat cancer and is currently undergoing intensive radiation and chemotherapy. He is in week four of treatment, and the toll is immense—physically, emotionally, and financially.

I live in a neighboring state, and although I’ve been able to provide some care in short visits, it’s become clear that he now needs full-time support—someone to help with meal preparation, medication management, cleaning, and the deeply personal care required during this stage of treatment.

Kevin does have a loving and incredibly supportive partner, but she is also managing her own health issues while caring for her elderly family members. The burden is simply too heavy for her to bear alone.

To be there for my dad in these crucial weeks, I must temporarily step away from my job. This means I will lose income, and I’ll need to cover travel, lodging, transportation, and basic living expenses while I provide him with the care he so desperately needs.
