Help Rev. Larry Smith Build a Safe Haven for Women
Donation protected
Hello and welcome to my GoFundMe page. My name is Rev. Larry Smith and I am asking for your support in helping me to establish a transitional living home for women in recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction.
The goal is to provide a peer-supported living environment for the person in recovery through a very disciplined, structured and monitored program. As people in early recovery are often discharged from treatment-oriented programs only to return to the pre-treatment environments -- where alcohol/drug use triggers are immediately and repeatedly experienced -- this home will provide a transitional living arrangement for those needing insulation from those toxic environments. Clients will be expected to follow a series of rules and procedures to guide them in their daily living and to provide discipline and structure in their recovery.
The home is located on the east side of Detroit, the neighborhood where I grew up, and I am currently in the process of bringing the house up to code. Your donations will help with needed repairs and, in the long term, help with operational costs of getting the program off the ground. More importantly, your donation will help save lives! Such homes are desperately needed. Thank you for your consideration!
