I am a survivor of domestic violence, and for the past two years, I have been separated from my children after my ex-husband was named their primary custodial parent. During that time, he alienated me from my children, exposed them to further domestic violence with several other women, and sadly, abused my children as well. The pain of being kept apart from my children led me into a deep depression, and I struggled to find hope each day.

Recently, my ex-husband was incarcerated, and after two long years, I have finally been reunited with my children. While this is a blessing I have dreamed of, it has come with unexpected challenges. I was not prepared to suddenly have my children back in my care, and their paternal family refuses to release any of their belongings. My children returned to me with nothing but the clothes on their backs. We are starting over from scratch, and I want nothing more than to provide them with the comfort, stability, and love they deserve.
