Help Reunite Our Family – Bring Sabbir Home

Hi, my name is Nicola. I'm a mum, a wife, and right now… I'm doing everything I can to keep my little family together.

In 2024, I made the heartbreaking decision to return to the UK from Cyprus with our baby boy, Zayan. We came here for two reasons:

To be near my family for support, and

❤️‍ To get Zayan the medical care he desperately needs.

Zayan was born with a rare eye condition — Marcus Gunn jaw-winking syndrome and third nerve palsy. It affects his vision and eye movement, and he needs specialist treatment that simply wasn’t available in Cyprus. As a mum, I knew I had to put him first.

But leaving meant something devastating: being separated from my husband, Sabbir, who has been living and working in Cyprus for over 10 years.

Why We're Asking for Help

We never imagined we’d be in this position, asking for help. But here we are.

In Cyprus, I was working long hours (9am–6pm), making the average €900 a month. I tried commuting 2 hours a day for a better job that paid more, but with childcare, fuel, rent, and bills, it just wasn’t sustainable. I was constantly burnt out, and Zayan needed more than I could give.

Now in England, I’m working full-time while raising Zayan alone. He’s with my mum during the day and starting nursery soon. We’re doing everything we can, saving every penny, cutting every corner, but the cost of living, visa fees, and flights to see Sabbir make it feel impossible.

We’ve already faced two visa rejections trying to bring Sabbir here. Now we need over £5,000 for his next application. £2074 for the visa and £3323 for the IHS Immigration Health Surcharge Every setback hurts more, not just financially, but emotionally. Zayan cries when he sees his dad on video calls. He’s too young to understand why Daddy isn’t here.
