My wife and I have been married for three years, and we recently celebrated our anniversary. When we married, I gained not only a wonderful partner but also her beautiful daughter from her previous marriage. We share custody of her with her biological father, who has always been a devoted and loving presence in her life. Over time, something truly special has happened: the three of us have not only learned to co-parent with respect—we’ve genuinely become friends. What began as a blended family has grown into a close, supportive little unit centered around the child we all love.

Earlier this year, my wife and I moved to a new state for a career opportunity. Her daughter came with us, and her father made the incredibly difficult choice to stay behind temporarily until his lease ended, planning to move closer as soon as he could. In the meantime, he committed to visiting her every month. Despite long work hours and financial strain, he never once hesitated. He made every trip, working extra shifts just to spend precious, in-person time with his daughter. Because of our single car, my work schedule, and our finances, we couldn’t send her to him—so he shouldered the entire burden without complaint. His dedication has never wavered.

Tragically, on his most recent visit, everything changed. His car hydroplaned, crashed into a truck, and was completely totaled. With only a few months left on his lease, he now has no vehicle to get to work—something he desperately needs to finish out his time there and make the move to join us.

We’re asking for help because we want to bring our little family back together. This accident was unforeseeable, and he deserves the chance to get back on his feet and start fresh. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help him secure a vehicle, continue working, and take the final steps toward being close to his daughter—and to us—again.
