Hello, thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Jamie and I am the wife of Mathias. My husband On September 5th, was detained by ICE right outside our apartment building after coming home from work. I was in complete shock. I never imagined something like this could happen to us.

Just two weeks before, we had our preemie baby boy at 29 weeks. He’s still in the hospital fighting to grow, and we also have a 17 month old at home. Trying to do this alone has been the hardest thing I’ve ever faced.

Right now, I’m doing everything I can to keep our family together and take care of our babies, but it’s been really hard emotionally and financially. We’re raising money to help with legal fees for my husband’s case, basic living costs, and to prepare to rebuild our life in Colombia where we can hopefully be together again as a family.

Any help, whether it’s a donation, sharing our story, or even just keeping us in your prayers, truly means so much to us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this and for supporting us through such a painful time.

Mi nombre es Jamie y soy la esposa de Mathias. El 5 de septiembre, mi esposo fue detenido por ICE justo afuera de nuestro edificio de apartamentos después de llegar del trabajo. Quedé en completo shock. Nunca imaginé que algo así pudiera pasarnos a nosotros. 

 Tan solo dos semanas antes, habíamos tenido a nuestro bebé prematuro a las 29 semanas. Él todavía está en el hospital luchando por crecer, y además tenemos un niño de 17 meses en casa. Intentar enfrentar todo esto sola ha sido lo más difícil que he vivido. 

 En este momento, estoy haciendo todo lo posible para mantener a nuestra familia unida y cuidar de nuestros bebés, pero ha sido realmente difícil tanto emocional como económicamente. Estamos recaudando fondos para ayudar con los gastos legales del caso de mi esposo, los costos básicos de vida y para prepararnos a reconstruir nuestra vida en Colombia, donde esperamos poder estar juntos nuevamente como familia.
