It is almost unreal to know that you can go from celebrating life and planning a coming year of major opportunities, milestones to come and looking forward to new family memories. Straight to an unbelievable reality. For the past four months, my family and I have been experiencing homelessness. During this time, I’ve had to make the heartbreaking decision to separate from my children, and being apart—especially through the holidays—has been incredibly painful. We have been surviving on the savings we had set aside for our first home, but those funds are now nearly depleted. We lost all income during this period, and recently we also lost our car, which had been providing us with temporary shelter. We have been given an opportunity to secure stable housing by December 29th, but we need help covering the move-in costs. As a mother, my only wish is to have my children back together with me, safe and under one roof again. The funds raised will help cover the deposit, first month’s rent, beds and clothes for my children, and other essentials as we are completely starting over and had sold most of our belongings.
