Help Reunite Melissa and Charlie in Hawaii

Aloha,

my name is Melissa and my daughter’s name is Charlotte Faith, but I call her Charlie. I recently moved out of Chicago, Illinois to the Big Island of Hawaii in August 2024. Unfortunately, I could not move my daughter with me due to her father being a difficult person to deal with. He has started collecting Child Support from me back in January 2025, $2000 a month, and has jeopardized my sense of stability/livelihood here. He has enough money that I work so hard for (I’m a nurse) to afford my daughter tickets to come see and yet refuses to buy them. I can no longer afford the plane tickets since all of my money for savings is going to him. I can’t even afford gas to get to work or weekly groceries to survive. She was supposed to come see me during spring break 2025. I had already given him $4000+ in child support (straight from my paycheck) and he said that he STILL doesn’t have the money. I’ve made extra payments outside of Child Support to him and he refuses to refund me. On top of that, I monitor her lunch money that he doesn’t pay for either. I’ve reached out to lawyers who tell me that this will be a lengthy, difficult fight to get her out of Indiana, where she resides with her dad and his girlfriend and two other children (in his girlfriend’s house). She has told me that she feels lonelier there now currently than she ever did with me as a single mom in Chicago. He does not allow her open communication with me, only when it’s convenient for him. My daughter says she hasn’t gotten her anything new (no clothes, no extra allowance) since he started receiving the child support payments. The plan was to move her to Hawaii for high school and he’s even told her that she will not come, like we agreed. I really would love my daughter to live in Hawaii here with me, and it seems like a huge mountain to climb, financially, emotionally, psychologically, etc. but I think it will be worth the fight, because she deserves to be with a good parent. I miss her so much and want to show her all of the beautiful, amazing places and people that exist here. I need your help to afford the lawyers (Illinois/Indiana/Hawaii) and plane tickets for her to come here as this case will probably go to full trial. Anything will do. Mahalo Nui Loa
