My name is Jesus Ruiz, and I am an organizer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m reaching out to ask for your support for a family going through an incredibly difficult time.

About four years ago, I worked with a family whose loved one has been in immigration detention ever since. Sadly, she has now lost all of her appeals and is facing deportation to Laos after living in the United States for over 30 years.

Her grandmother—who is currently in Yolo County—has been her only close family member here. With her granddaughter being deported, she now wishes to return to Laos as well so they can remain together. However, she has very limited financial resources and needs support to make this journey possible.

The funds raised through this campaign will be used to help the grandmother return home to Laos, reunite with her granddaughter, and support them with basic needs while they get settled and rebuild their lives there.

If you’re able to contribute or share this campaign, it would mean a great deal to this family. To respect the wishes of the grandmother an actual photo of them was not used.
