Last December, our neighbor was detained during his lunch break at a construction job during ICE raids here in Charlotte. He was held in detention centers across two states before being deported to El Salvador.

He and his wife have young daughters, and she was five months pregnant at the time he was taken.

They've made the difficult decision that the only way to reunite as a family is for her and the girls, all under the age of nine, to relocate to El Salvador. The girls haven't seen their dad in about ten months, and he has never met the new baby. This means leaving behind the life, community, and friends they've built here.

This family is made up of very kind, hardworking people. Her husband is an incredibly talented woodworker who helped build our deck and helped other neighbors with projects around the neighborhood too. He'd bring his daughters along to help, and I'll never forget seeing them in their little safety goggles, helping him hammer. They're truly stand-up people in our community, and it's heartbreaking to see them separated.

100% of funds from this campaign will go directly to the family to cover flights and the costs necessary to relocate.
