My neighbor Tom, a retired Marine Corps Veteran who served multiple tours in Vietnam and received Purple Heart decorations, was evicted from his apartment in the middle of a heart attack while being escorted out of his apartment via stretcher. He was only a few weeks behind and reassured the neighborhood staff that he has the money right now he just had forgotten to pay his rent because he has memory issues from his war related injuries which get worse as he gets older. The apartment denied him the ability to pay the balance and evicted him anyway. The moment the ambulance pulled out of the neighborhood his entire apartment was emptied and his belongings and pet cats were thrown on the street in the parking lot. His cats are being cared for by a neighbor who has his own cats and some of Tom’s most precious belongings have been collected and stored. His entire life remains outside still having been rained on once already, being picked apart by trash pickers, right now as he is recovering in the hospital. Please help donate whatever you can so we can get my neighbor, a good man who dedicated his life to this country, a storage unit and a Uhaul so we can move his belongings to a safe storage unit so he at least has his things to come back to. Any excess money left after the cost of a storage unit and a Uhaul truck will go directly to Tom so he can put money toward moving. Thank you for your contributions!
