Help Restore Nancy & Leanne's Backyard!

If you know Nancy Qarmout and Leanne O'Rear, you know hospitality. Church gatherings, youth group gatherings, birthday parties for others, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, "Nancy camp" in the summer, celebrations of life for the families of loved ones, quiet days for friends who need it, neighbor kids playing basketball, wedding celebrations... we have been welcomed time and time again, friend and stranger, to the Q house, backyard, and pool. What a blessing it is to have friends who will open their hearts and home to community at the drop of a hat.
On October 11, 2020, Hurricane Delta moved through metro Atlanta and, in a near miss for which we are grateful no one was injured, the retaining wall in Nancy and Leanne's backyard completely collapsed. A fallen tree destroyed the fence as well. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover the expenses to fix the wall, backyard, and pool, which are upwards of $40,000. Nancy and Leanne have been wrestling with what's next (stay and pay out of pocket, or move), and have realized that, either way, it needs to be fixed. This week (June 2021), they are starting the slow journey of rebuilding this place that has long been a source of joy and builder of community. We don't know what the coming years will bring, but are confident that no matter where this loving family is, they will be extending hospitality to others.
It is with gratitude and in thanksgiving that I ask you to consider making a gift to help rebuild Nancy and Leanne (and Talitha and Gideon)'s backyard. Whether you have been to the Q pool once or one hundred times, rest assured, it will be accepted with thanks and paid forward in generosity.

So you have a sense of what your contribution will go toward, here are the items contributing to the cost:
- clearing debris, dirt, and damage
- grading and placing new drainage to prevent this from happening again
- replacing the retaining wall
- putting in a new pool liner and fixing the pool wall that has been damaged
- putting down grass/sod to cover the mud
- fixing concrete
- replacing the fence destroyed due to the tree
