Ever since I can remember, my grandmother has worked so hard to provide for her family. She grew up poor and had to stop schooling in 3rd grade to work and help her mom make some money. After she got married, she sold fruits and vegetables at the market to provide for her family while her husband worked overseas so they could send their children to school. She became a widow at 58; she has been without her beloved for the past 27 years. This home, the first home they bought together, now paints a picture of loss and despair.
This flood has been the worst this house has endured and believe me, it has seen so many floods in its lifetime. We are asking for some donation to rebuild a decent home and purchase new household items that were ruined by the flood. The entire first floor flooded and all of their appliances, food, furniture, even her sewing machine that she kept for many many years is now damaged. While we cannot replace those things that my grandparents bought when they started their lives together, we are reaching out to those who are able to help to donate to provide her a little bit of comfort while we figure out the next steps on rebuilding her home.
The money will be sent to the Philippines to help rebuild Nanay’s home. We appreciate your help in advance and we will provide updates when available.
