Help Restore My 71-Year-Old Father’s Home in St. Vincent.

My father, Gault Bowman Sr., is 71 years old and lives alone in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. His health has declined significantly due to arthritis in his legs, and he can no longer maintain his property or his home.

His land, once cared for with pride, is now completely overgrown with thick elephant grass and vines, to the point where his house is barely visible beneath the vegetation.

The condition of his home is heartbreaking:

• One door is missing entirely; the other is without handles or locks, leaving him vulnerable

• Parts of the concrete ceiling have begun to fall in

• The floor is damaged and unsafe

• Most of his furniture is broken or unusable

• His bedroom has no proper bed or mattress

• His bathroom lacks a sink, tiles, and has only a basic PVC pipe for a shower

• He has no electricity and lives in darkness, with no safe way to store food or basic appliances

At 71, dealing with arthritis and limited mobility, my father can no longer work his land or generate income beyond a small government stipend of $250 East Caribbean dollars per month — about $90 USD — which is nowhere near enough to meet his basic needs.

He also lacks proper clothing and shoes, making daily life even more uncomfortable and undignified.
