I don't think there are too many people who have not seen the Anderson house near Parsons and Bear Creek at Halloween. It is beyond description. They start decorating in August, transforming their home into a magical experience for the entire community. Personally, I always look forward to seeing the ten-foot diameter spider skeleton on their roof—it’s a highlight of the season.
Recently, they purchased a storage unit for Ken's tree service, which is truly the best in Merced. Unfortunately, most of the Halloween decorations were kept there as well. On May 13th, tragedy struck when someone set fire to the property, consuming the huge motor home, fully furnished, along with buildings and tools beyond description. The worst part is that the insurance was scheduled to take effect just days later, leaving them completely uninsured for this horrific loss.
Can you even begin to absorb this disaster? While we are eternally grateful no one was hurt, the loss is overwhelming. The 2026 Halloween will not be the same without help of friends, strangers and the community. Any donation you can make will help. We need to keep the best Merced Halloween house up and running! Your support will help restore both the decorations and the equipment. PLEASE SHARE the link!!
