Hello,
My name is Marlon Williams, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support on behalf of my wonderful mother.
Recently, her home in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, was severely damaged in a devastating arson fire. While my sister, young niece, and cousins managed to escape without physical injury, the emotional trauma they endured was significant. Tragically, the fire destroyed the home my mother spent her life’s savings to build as her dream retirement residence.
We have since learned that the house was not insured. My mother is currently living on a limited fixed income and cannot afford the overwhelming costs of rebuilding. The estimated repairs are $45,000 USD (approximately 7 million JMD)—an amount that feels unattainable. In addition to the structural damage, she lost countless personal belongings, deepening the heartbreak.
My mother is more than just a homeowner; she is a beloved community elder who returned home to Jamaica from Canada to dedicate her retirement to helping local children with school supplies, clothing, and food. Now, the pillar of our community needs our help.
We have set an initial goal of $35,000 USD to cover the most urgent repairs, focusing on making the property safe and secure. Every dollar raised will go directly toward rebuilding her home and restoring her sanctuary.
Words cannot fully express our gratitude that our family is safe, but the journey to recovery will be long and difficult. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Please consider donating and sharing her story. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
