Help restore Hayward's Whispering Giant Statue

The Tale of the Whispering Giants

In 1977 a man named Peter Toth came to Hayward to carve a Native American Tribute Statue out of a huge log. It was originally located at the back of the old Carnegie library. A number of years ago it was moved to the location of the current library, where it stands today.

Toth’s vision was to carve one of these statues for every state in the United States. Hayward was number # 26

Over the years the statue has fallen into extreme disrepair. The Sawyer County Historical Society would like to aid in the restoration of this statue, with your help. The statue was given to the community of Hayward, and we are looking for donations to repair it to its former glory.

The project will take about three months. Instead of letting this statue deteriorate further, we would like the community to come together to help repair this Whispering Giant.

All Proceeds will go directly to the repair and restoration of the statue and the surrounding grounds.
