My name is Jaimie Brown, and I am the granddaughter of Daniel Brown. My grandfather recently passed away on December 30, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives. Daniel devoted his entire life to judo—it was his passion, and he poured his heart into coaching and mentoring others. In the 1990s, he and his sons bought the building that became the home of Brown's Judo. Even after both of his sons passed away, Daniel never stopped coaching. He continued to teach judo right up until the day he passed, inspiring generations with his dedication and kindness.

Daniel was a well-known figure in Utica, loved by so many for his big heart and unwavering commitment to the sport. His passion for judo was unmatched, and the impact he made on his students and the community will never be forgotten. Now, with my grandfather gone, the building faces many challenges. It is extremely old and requires a significant amount of work to keep it safe and functional. The main goal is to fix the building as much as possible so that judo classes can continue and Daniel's dream can live on.

Brown's Judo was meant to be passed down from generation to generation, and it would mean everything to me to honor my grandfather's wishes.
