Hello, my name is Kim Roy, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my parents story. This week my elderly parents (Marie and Leroy) have experienced the unimaginable loss of their home due to fire. The apartment complex that they live in had a fire in the home directly above theirs. Thankfully they were able to get out without injury! Unfortunately, being directly under the fire their home is completely lost. Although they have been able to salvage some of their living room furniture and some clothes, most of their belongings are unsalvageable due to smoke and water damage. In addition to replacing all of their belongings they will need to find a new home and come up with the cost of first month/last month rent and deposit to secure a new apartment.

Those that know my mom and dad know that they have always been the first to help anyone and often have literally given the groceries from their kitchen and the clothes off of their backs. Being 80 and 88 years old, they are on an extremely limited income.

Dealing with the loss of your home is difficult at any time, but at this stage in their lives they are also going through the myriad of medical issues and difficulties that arise later in life. I am hoping to help them during this difficult experience and reduce some of the stress and worry of replacing what they have spent a lifetime creating.

Any money donated will be used to secure new housing, replace their beds, bedding, furniture, kitchen appliances and other daily living needs.
