For the past four years, I’ve been supporting a single mother in Afghanistan who is living in hiding with her three children under the current regime. Because of her past work and advocacy, it is not safe for her to live openly, and her movements and communications are severely restricted.
Her mobile phone is her only reliable lifeline. It’s how she accesses help, receives money for food, stays in contact with supporters, and maintains some connection to the outside world during extreme isolation.
Last week, her old phone suffered a sudden hardware failure and stopped working entirely. She is currently borrowing an ageing handset from a friend, but it is also close to failing. If that happens, she and her children could be completely cut off.
I’m raising £250 to help her buy a basic, reliable replacement phone. This isn’t a luxury — it’s essential for her safety, practical survival, and emotional wellbeing.
Any contribution makes a real difference. £5 helps. £10 helps. Together, we can make sure she isn’t left isolated and unreachable.
Thank you for helping me support this family in a very tangible, immediate way.
This fundraiser is supported by the Association of Radical Midwives, who have extensive experience assisting Afghan families both inside and outside the country.
