Help repair the American Fluorite Museum
Donation protected
On January 29th there was a fire at the American Fluorite Museum. According to the Illinois State Fire Marshal the fire started when the furnace malfunctioned. The force of the explosion knocked a hole through the wall of the room the furnace was in. Most surfaces inside the museum are caked with soot from the smoky fire.
We regretfully learned that the museum only had liability insurance, basically to cover any injuries or accidents of museum visitors. Even though the insurance will not cover any damages, the museum board wants to save and restore the museum, as it is a very important part of Rosiclare’s mining history.
We need to replace the heating unit, fix the roof, repair a lot of the windows, and have the whole place deep cleaned and repainted.
If you would be interested in helping us get the museum going again then please considering donating, if you can't donate then please help us by spreading the word around.
Thank you very much for all of your help.
