I was able to give Christian and Lorena, the affected family, a check this past week, and they are so grateful for everyone's support during this time.
On Monday, January 12, ICE rammed into a vehicle solely because the driver was Latino. ICE used the stop to question the driver about his immigration status. Thankfully, the driver was not detained; however, even though at the scene ICE said they would pay for the repairs, ICE is now refusing to pay for the damage the agents caused to his vehicle.
The damage to the car is extensive (see the article above for a picture of the damage to the car), and the family needs support paying for the car to be repaired and for other costs associated with being down a vehicle.
I met the family on site and we exchanged numbers, and I have been in regular communication with them since the incident. We intend to meet this week (the week of January 19) so I can give them the funds. Thank you so much to everyone who donated! The family is so grateful for all of your kindness.
