Help Repair Moiliili Cemetery's Vandalized Monuments
Tax deductible
We are heartbroken by the recent acts of theft and vandalism at the historic Moiliili Japanese Cemetery. Numerous headstones and monuments have been desecrated, causing significant emotional pain and costly damage. Honolulu Police are actively investigating the incident. If you have any information or video footage from the area, please contact the authorities.
This sacred place, built in 1908 and originally known as the Japanese Kyodo Bochi, represents over a century of history and heritage. In 1956, additional land was acquired and the name changed to Moiliili Shin-Bochi — the “New Cemetery.” Today, it stands as a powerful reminder of our community’s roots and resilience.
The Moiliili Cemetery Association, a group of dedicated community volunteers, has worked tirelessly to maintain and restore this historic site, which had been in decline for decades. Our efforts are entirely supported by donations and the generous time of volunteers.
Now, in light of this devastating vandalism, we urgently need financial support to repair the damage and continue preserving the legacy of those buried here.
We are humbly asking for your help.
No donation is too small — give what you can, from the heart.
To support or get involved, please reach out to us directly or visit our website http://www.moiliili.info/
Together, we can honor our ancestors and protect this important piece of our shared history.
