Honoring the Legacy of Vincent Sanchez

Dear Friends and Family,

As many of you know, our beloved father, Vincent Sanchez, was a gardener in Golden Gate Park for over thirty years. His love for nature, his gentle spirit, and his dedication to the beauty of the park touched the lives of so many.

In 1998, we honored his memory with a dedicated bench in the Fuchsia Dell section of Golden Gate Park, a place he loved deeply and tended with care. With the incredible generosity of friends and family at that time, we were able to create a space that reflects his warmth and presence, a space that continues to bring us comfort and peace.

We’ve recently learned that the bench dedication is not permanent and requires periodic renewal to remain in place. Our family is committed to preserving this meaningful tribute, and we are once again reaching out to those who knew and loved Vince, or were impacted by his life’s work, to ask if you’d like to contribute toward the renewal.

Whether you remember Vince for his kindness, his dedication, or his unmistakable spirit, or even if you never met him but have enjoyed the beauty of the park he helped shape, we invite you to help us ensure that his bench remains for generations to come.

The plaque on the bench reads: Vincent Sanchez. Gardener here for 30 yrs. His gentle spirit lives among the beauty of this park.

We continue to visit the bench often and find great comfort in its presence. It’s become a place of reflection and peace, and we hope it can remain so for all who visit.

All donations go directly towards the renewal fees of the bench, with a goal to make this a "forever bench" in Golden Gate Park.
