Help Remodel Ms. Morris' Home!
Donation protected
"God sent me to New Orleans," says Ms. Iranise Morris, a Haitian immigrant who has lived in the city for over 40 years. She moved to America for a better life for herself and her family in 1981. As a young woman, she worked in the New Orleans hospitality industry to support her children and her husband who struggled with longterm illnesses. After her husband passed away in 1992, she worked 16 hour days to support herself and children in the lower ninth ward home she bought only a year prior. As the matriarch of her family she had 7 children, 3 of which have passed away and the other 4 live out of state.
Unfortunately, Ms. Morris' home and the cradle of her family has seen extensive damage due to the wrath of this year's historically powerful Hurricane Ida and we want want to help.
As a woman in her late 70s without a lot of income or help, she would otherwise not be able to afford the renovations necessary to make her home a safe place to live once again. Water came in from all sides of her home damaging her bedroom, breaking windows, and causing ceiling damage. We need to raise money to help fund the renovation to restore her home to a condition fit for an elderly woman who has worked her entire life to support her family.
