Help my mom and brother get a wheelchair accessible vehicle!
I know it’s hard to believe because my mom barely looks 50, but my sweet, little mom, Remedios, is turning 70 this year. My mom has spent over 40 of those years as my older brother’s caretaker. Allan, my brother, has cerebral palsy quadriplegia.

As my mom gets older it becomes more and more difficult for her to travel with my brother. His wheel chair is heavy, and it’s difficult for her to lift it into the back of her car when preparing to go from place to place. Allan’s body is constantly tense, and because of this it’s hard to get him into and out of the car without bumping his arms or legs. He has a car seat, but getting him in and out of the car seat is also quite challenging because of the way his tensed up body pushes back against restraint.

Traveling is a big stressor for my mom. Going to important doctor appointments gets pushed back if she doesn’t have someone around who can help her lift Allan’s wheelchair. She often times misses out when it comes to seeing her grandkids’ football games, wrestling meets, and other big moments.

My mom is such a wonderful human. She’s sweet and kind and has dedicated the majority of her adult life to caring for both my brother and my dad before he passed in 2019.

Purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle is something she’s talked about for years now, but these cars tend to have high mileage and an even higher price tag. After my dad passed away, my mom had to stop working in order to be home with Allan, so a vehicle like this didn’t seem feasible. But perhaps with your help this is something that won’t remain out of reach for much longer.

To anyone who decides to donate, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
