My name is Reginald, and after a lifetime of serving communities, I am now the one in need of help. In 2009, after the tragic death of Darrian Albert—a schoolmate of my niece—I created a “Safe Passage” program at two South Chicago elementary schools. With no funding, we reduced crime by 70% at one school and 60% at the other. The City eventually funded the program but removed me from the project after I submitted the full design.

In 2016, I moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan to work with the homeless. I designed and launched the “Tiny Homes Project,” raising funds to build two homes for people in need. In February 2024, as a Mandated Reporter, I reported serious misconduct involving my organization’s leadership. Despite whistleblower protections, I was fired. Since then, life has been extremely difficult. I have lived in multiple cities—Chicago, Wyoming (MI), Indianapolis, Merrillville, and Mount Laurel—trying to regain stability. I continued working for a Chicago nonprofit until its funding was unexpectedly cut. I have been struggling since March 2024 and homeless since September 2024.

Today, I finally have an opportunity: a job and a fresh start in Alabama. But I cannot get there on my own. I need help covering transportation, basic tools for work, temporary housing, and a modest vehicle or transportation support. I have spent my life trying to protect and uplift others.
