Markfield Playground & Garden Redevelopment

We are heartbroken that Markfield’s wonderful accessible adventure playground was partially destroyed by a fire in the early hours of Friday 22nd of May.

Our vital play and respite services for disabled children and families have been put on hold until we can make the playground safe. We are working hard aiming to resume play sessions as soon as possible.

Our playground is used by around 700 disabled and non-disabled children and young people every year – from all over Haringey and beyond. During the covid-19 pandemic we have found creative ways to support the community – we are pioneering ‘socially distanced’ play sessions which have been a lifeline for disabled children and their parents.

Quote from one of our recent visitors

“I just wanted to deeply thank you for the fabulous session we had at Markfield. Thank you so much for making my children smile, it means the world to me. Seeing them truly happy during this awful lockdown is rare.. they had a blast playing...running around, climbing, and swinging. They love Markfield and we do too. Without Markfield, we would really feel lost..”

We are in contact with our insurers and are hopeful that they will help.

We are launching this fund to enable us to rebuild the playground, so it can be reborn as an even more amazing magical place for children and families.

Thank you for your support
