Help Rebuild the Rockton Ice Rink

A few local volunteers are banning together to help raise funds to pass on to the Lions Club for the rebuild of the outdoor Rockton ice rink. The rink is located at the public boat launch across from Hononegah High School, overlooking the Rock River. This large rink measures approximately 126 ft x 64 ft and is an incredible spot for anyone from kids to adults and all skill levels of hockey players. This outdoor space is an asset to the Rockton community, especially during these times.

Originally put up in 2010 the rink served the community for years, but in recent years has been unusable in the winter due to needed restoration. Some of the demo work has already begun but funds are a little short for the rebuild. The goal this fall is to rebuild the straight walls from the ground up so that it can be used this winter for the first time in a few years.

To accomplish this goal, a remaining amount of $1,500 is needed for the Lion’s Club to purchase the necessary materials. The materials list consists of a few hundred treated 2x6 boards, nearly 30 sheets of treated plywood, plus 50 lbs. of exterior grade hardware. Once this goal is reached and the materials are purchased, the rebuild work will be done by volunteers, so if you would like to help shoot us a message on the Rockton Ice Rink Facebook page .

Please consider donating to help with these rink repairs and bring this asset to our community back to life. Every little bit helps!
