Help Rebuild Village School in Nepal Damaged by Landslide

Tax deductible
On September 28 and 29, 2024 nearly a foot of rain fell in Nepal which is the 23rd poorest in the world and one of the unluckiest. In 2015 a magnitude 8.1 earthquake destroyed some 7,000 schools across the country.

For the last dozen years the Rotary Club of Fort Collins - After Work (RAW) has supported several desperately poor villages in Ramechhap and Sindhuli districts east of Kathmandu. RAW has rebuilt quake-damaged schools, provided school uniforms and learning materials, and prescription eyeglasses to students in need.

Nestled in steep mountain valleys near swollen rivers, these villages saw their schools once again damaged by landslides from some of the worst flooding in Nepal. Two students are missing and presumed lost. The Patan Devi school now desperately needs re-construction at a cost of $8,904 for materials alone (the villagers do the work).

We thank Sudip, our agent in Nepal, for surveying the damage to RAW's adopted schools. He rode his motorcycle on the only road from Kathmandu even though it was mostly destroyed in the flooding.
