Help Us Rebuild Padgett’s Karate School After Hurricane Helene
I am Brittin Padgett, the niece (in-law) of the wonderful Sensei Cindy Padgett-Lugo of Saluda, SC. She is lovingly “Gran C” to my children. She is an incredible Champion in her sport, who has shared her love of karate and taught World Champions. She has been teaching karate now for over 40 years.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene’s destructive path destroyed her dojo. Padgett’s Karate dojo was more than just a place to learn self-defense; it was a sanctuary where many children found not only strength in body but in spirit. Unfortunately, Hurricane Helene destroyed the building, and because of its age, it was not insured. What was truly lost goes beyond bricks and mortar—it was a space where kids discovered faith, discipline, and purpose.
Sensei Cindy, with her unwavering faith and heart of gold, has been a guiding light for every child who walked through those doors. Her deep belief in God and in the potential of every student has been a foundation for the dojo. On the wall, a scripture reminded everyone who entered: “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). This message became a pillar of hope and determination for her students, who not only learned to protect themselves physically but grew stronger spiritually.
Now, we are asking for your help to restore this sacred space where children found both faith and family. Let’s come together as a community to rebuild the dojo, so that Sensei Cindy and her students can continue to do all things through Christ who strengthens them.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to this goal. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with others. Together, we can ensure this special place of faith and learning thrives once more.
