First, as Korean immigrants, we share our support with our community and stand with our brothers and sisters. We understand the sadness and anger that stems from years of injustice and oppression. What has been happening throughout history is intolerable and change must happen.
New Kingdom Sports is an immigrant-family owned business who established themselves from the bottom up by serving the community and working diligently in order to provide better opportunities for their daughter, Rebekah in the USA.
Unfortunately, New Kingdom Sports was also one of the stores that was looted and severely damaged during the riots. The Kim family lost the means of their livelihood during that week.
Anyone who knows Min-Jung would say he is a soft spoken and gentle soul. He and his wife, Mi-Hwa (or Michelle), are individuals who would go out of their way to help someone in need whether it be in their church community or neighborhood. Even their daughter, Rebekah takes after her parents and is known by her peers and teachers to always share and provide joy to those in need.
Now, they need our help. New Kingdom Sports is an immigrant-started and owned business that helped serve low-income neighborhoods with cell phones, repairs, beauty needs, and food. Many times, customers could be seen shopping for essential needs or simply hanging out in the store with other neighbors. The Kim family has only known to give. Let us now give back to them and help rebuild their business.
* Rebekah helping her parents out
* Proud of our employees
* Proud of what we built
* CCTV footage of looting
* But rebuilding as a family again
